[Heahmund has many qualities that make him similar to a Viking. He's got a bloodthirsty nature when he fights, fierce and utterly fearless as a warrior. But Ivar would take what he could get. As long as Heahmund fought for him, it was enough.]

I admit there is there is the presence of another God besides my own. But I see no good reason to serve him. There are too many rules you have that I don't agree with.

And what about the battlefield? It doesn't seem like you serve him much when enjoying the slaughter of heathens. That seems to be serving yourself.
[Not so true. He and Heahmund understand each other very well. There had been an instantaneous connection the first time the two of them had laid eyes on each other. It was like a bolt of lightning striking Ivar.]

[He says with a hint of a smile. He might think he's serving his God, but so long as it served Ivar's needs as well, he wasn't going to complain.]
[He doesn't elaborate as to what he means by that. Ivar doesn't think he'll ever be able to turn Heahmund away from his God, but he definitely thinks he can get the priest to see things more his way.
He's slowly wearing Heahmund down a little day by day. He's not quite cognizant yet of why that makes him happy. Soon, he might realize his fascination with the priest isn't fully platonic.]
